The Advocate in Baton Rouge, La., reported high demand for the paper’s New Orleans edition following The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune switch to three-day-a-week publication.

Response to The Advocate’s expansion in to New Orleans has been “overwhelming,” according to the paper — so much so that demand reportedly overwhelmed its circulation call center.

Meantime, Jim Romenesko reported that a survey by the LSU Public Policy Research Lab found that 51.4 percent of current Times-Pic subscribers plan to buy the New Orleans edition of the Advocate.

Advance Publications cut print days of The Times-Picayune and three Alabama papers — the Birmingham News, Huntsville Times and Press-Register in Mobile — Oct. 1 (see Dateline, Oct. 1, 2012).
