CHICAGO — The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch won’t convert to its compact broadsheet format before Jan. 1, said Joe Gallo, the paper’s CIO. Speaking before Saturday’s ING meeting here, Gallo said the newspaper is working with suppliers Pressline Services and Foldex to ensure that the modified presses and new high-speed folders supporting the machines' conversion can reliably operate at press speeds.
“We are now testing the changes,” he said. “We are making progress. It’s not a question of if, but when (we will migrate to the new format), but it won’t be before Jan. 1.”
In addition to the flagship paper, The Dispatch will also produce The Cincinnati Enquirer in the new format, which measures approximately 14.75 inches by 11 inches.
