NewspaperDirect is expanding the number of platforms through which its PressDisplay.com and PressReader software is available and taking other steps to beef up its SmartEdition electronic distribution service.

The vendor last month added the iRex DR 1000 Digital Reader to the number of devices through which PressDisplay and SmartEdition publications are accessible, said Igor Smirnoff, NewspaperDirect’s director of strategic development.

The iRex reader, developed by Netherlands-based iRex Technologies, sports a 10-inch screen, making the gadget particularly attractive to consumers looking for a more reader-friendly environment, Smirnoff said.
