Indy Star picks MMMS
The Indianapolis Star is
beefing up its postpress capabilities with equipment from Muller Martini
Mailroom Systems Inc.
The paper is adding a 32-head
SLS-3000 inserter, three CombiStacks and 16 AF300 hopper loaders, according to
MMMS. The vendor is also adding an inkjet addressing system, selective inserting
with SelectLine and software that will be used to oversee a bundle distribution
system.
The equipment will be
installed early next year at the paper’s Pulliam Production Center, said Bill
Bolger, The Star’s vice president of production.
“The Indianapolis Star is
looking forward to working with Muller Martini on a capacity and productivity
improvement project for our production facility,” he said
Meantime, Abu Dhabi newspaper
publisher United Printing and Publishing tapped MMMS parent Muller Martini to
provide it with a complete mailroom system.
The order includes five
NewsGrip-A lines, two SLS-3000 inserters, five PrintStack compensating stackers,
MPC control software and a labeling system. UPP is also purchasing a press
delivery system with a Floorveyor conveyor.
