Morning Call adopts Discus

Neasi-Weber International said that The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa., is live with its Discus circulation software. Discus manages customer service, single-copy sales, newspapers-in-education copies and distribution, NWI said.

The Morning Call is running the software on a Sun Unix Oracle platform.

Other Tribune Co. properties using Discus include the Chicago Tribune, (Baltimore) Sun, South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Newsday in Long Island, N.Y., Daily Press in Newport News, Va., and the Hartford (Conn.) Courant.

“I’ve had first-hand experience implementing major systems in every area of our business,” said Michael Foux, vice president of circulation for The Morning Call. “This was the smoothest transition I have ever seen.”

Other publishers using Discus include the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Seattle Times and the (New York) Daily News.

A number of Tribune properties also use NWI’s Admarc app to manage advertising sales revenue, the publisher said.
