PREPRESS

Screen (USA) named Mike Stone regional sales manager, Northeast region. Screen also named Thomas Leibrandt to the newly created position of print-on-demand product manager and Jeff Skolnik Southern regional manager.

 

WoodWing Asia Pacific named Joel Ingulsrud as sales director for Japan.

 

Presteligence named Dave Pendergraft and Brian Bailey as sales managers and Steven Paul as technical sales specialist.
 

The Los Angeles Times last month named Russ Stanton editor of the paper, succeeding James O’Shea, who resigned.

Stanton, 49, formerly served as the paper’s innovative editor and also served as business editor.

Stanton’s promotion was part of a number of personnel changes at the newspaper, which included the appointment of Jack Klunder to the newly created position of president. He will oversee the paper’s circulation and operations.

Meantime, the Times named Bob Bellack president, development and digital media; Rob Barrett senior vice president, interactive, and John O’Laughlin president, targeted media.

Chris Avetisian succeeds Bellack as chief financial officer while Gwen Murakami was named senior vice president of administration, another new position.

Dave Murphy, currently general manager and executive vice president of advertising sales, will be leaving his post.

 

ProImage appointed Derek Carter as business development manager to its newly expanded Nordic, Baltic and Eastern European region. His responsibilities will include introducing ProImage workflow, ink optimization and color image processing products to the region’s newspaper printing industry.

 

PRESS

Tensor Group Inc. named Dennis McManus Western regional sales manager, based in San Mateo, Calif. Tensor said Rick Boate of Offset Web Systems will continue to cover Tensor’s U.S. commercial and select group newspaper accounts.

 

POSTPRESS

Westfalia Technologies Inc. named James Miller to business development and Bill Daniels as an account executive.

 

NEW MEDIA

Clickability Inc. named Robert Carroll vice president of marketing; Pat School vice president of human resources and Amy McCarthy director of channels.

 

INDUSTRY

MediaNews Group named Michael “Mac” Tully president and publisher of the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News and group vice president of the Bay Area News Group, which also includes the Oakland Tribune, Marin Independent Journal and other publications. Tully formerly served as publisher of The Kansas City (Mo.) Star.

 

The McClatchy Co. named George McCanless as president and publisher of The Telegraph in Macon, Ga.

 

John Kerr was named to the new position of director of multimedia sales development for The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif.

 

The Chicago Tribune named Jeff Dorsey vice president of technology. He formerly served as production director/operations, at the newspaper.

 

Joe Vincent, senior vice president of operations at the New York Post, was named senior vice president of operations for the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group. Vincent will continue in his role at the Post. Both the Post and Dow Jones are owned by News Corp.

 

The Los Angeles Newspaper Group named Fred Board general manager of a new Inland Division, overseeing the operation of the Sun in San Bernardino, the Inland Valley Bulletin and Redlands Daily Facts. He’ll report to Fred Hamilton, who was named publisher and chief executive officer of the Inland Division.

 

Alejandro “Alex” Sanchez was named publisher of Texas Spanish newspaper Al Dia.
