SNG, Hagadone, Finnish pub tap DTI

The Small Newspaper Group tapped Digital Technology International for financial, advertising, editorial and Web publishing apps to support its five newspapers and numerous online properties in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and California. “SNG identified a number of strategic imperatives for our selection process including knowing more about our customers, leveraging that information to maximize our sales and service capabilities, acquiring technology to reduce costs and improve customer service,” said Gerald Taylor, publisher of The Dispatch in Moline, Ill., and head of the SNG technology task force.

The project, currently under way, will incorporate more than 300 seats. The apps will join DTI’s circ software, which SNG already uses.

Hagadone Corp., meantime, said it will roll out DTI’s ad software across more than 100 seats at more than 14 newspapers it publishes in Idaho, Montana, Washington state, Wisconsin and Hawaii.

Finally, DTI said HSS Media in Vasa, Finland, will roll out its MediaPlus Circulation app. HSS is the first European customer to deploy DTI’s circulation software, DTI said. The Finnish publisher implemented a DTI editorial system two years ago.

“[MediaPlus’] advanced and efficient set of marketing tools will help with our marketing endeavors from strategic planning and implementation, to tactics and reporting,” said Jan-Erik Hinds, HSS Media’s circulation manager. “We will be able to analyze the success of any campaigns that we implement, helping us to plan activity in the future and ultimately improve the level of service to our customers.”

HSS produces four newspapers, distributed in Finland’s Swedish-speaking areas: Vasabladet, Syd-Osterbotten, Pietarsaaren Sanomat and Norra Osterbottens Tidningar.
