The
Repository in Canton, Ohio, at the end of May went live with NewsXtreme software
from Presteligence Inc. to drive its new computer-to-plate workflow consisting
of two Kodak Trendsetter News 150 machines, which the publisher commissioned in
June.
The Repository’s previous
workflow consisted of Presteligence’s Guss spooling software and BlackMagic for
color-calibrated proofing.

“Right now you have
conventional plate pricing and film pricing going upward and CTP pricing coming
down and with the volume we do, we can now justify the move to CTP monetarily,”
said Kevin Ackerman, director of operations.
In addition to its daily
product, The Repository (Monday-Friday, 65,789; Sunday, 78,066) is a national
print site for The New York Times.
