Dow Jones blending print, Web
Publisher to roll out EidosMedia software to 700 users
in bid to unify print and online news production.

Dow Jones & Co. tapped EidosMedia’s Methode publishing app to manage the print and Web editions of The Wall Street Journal.

The publisher will bring up one section of The Journal at a time and plans to be 100 percent live with the app in February 2009.

“The big objective is to truly unify print and online news production,” Jim Pensiero, The Journal’s vice president of news projects, told Newspapers & Technology. “The technology works across media channels and it’s on us to use it effectively, and we will.”

Methode will serve reporters, editors and designers at newsrooms in the United States, Europe and Asia, all of which produce main print editions. All of the U.S. editions of The Journal, encompassing localized news and advertising, will be created and managed with Methode’s planning and tracking, Eidos said.
