Trib adds to Agfa
foundation
Tribune Co. purchased three additional Agfa Advantage DL platesetters for The
Hartford (Conn.) Courant. The sale brings to 20 the number of Agfa violet
platesetters installed throughout Tribune properties.
A majority of Tribune’s sites
are also using Agfa’s Arkitex workflow.
“Nationwide, we have a
demanding set of goals to help maintain the production schedules that make
Tribune newspapers the leaders in our field,” said Mark Thomas, Tribune’s
director of group operations. “A smooth workflow, reliable platemaking, time-
and cost-effectiveness, and consistently high quality are among those goals.”
In addition to the Advantage
and Arkitex, Agfa products in use throughout the group’s properties include
Polaris platesetters, N91v plates, and Arkitex OptiInk ink savings software.
Newsday of Long Island, N.Y.,
recently purchased four Polaris units and The (Baltimore) Sun purchased three
Advantage DL platesetters. The Daily Press of Newport News, Va., meantime
installed its second Advantage DL.
Other Tribune papers to
recently tap Agfa CTP include The South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Ft. Lauderdale,
the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel and the Morning Call of Allentown, Pa.
