Trinity completing
Watford upgrade
Trinity Mirror moved closer to
being on-edition with five ColorMAN presses from MAN Roland at its Watford,
England, print site as the publisher adopts full color printing at the Daily
Mirror and Sunday Mirror.
Trinity Mirror purchased the
presses in 2006 to replace 12 older MAN Roland machines. The 9-cylinder
satellite ColorMAN presses are being commissioned at a much faster clip than
originally anticipated, according to an article posted by U.K. business
publication PrintWeek.
“The installation program is
ahead of schedule and we are able to offer additional color now, much earlier
than we expected,” PrintWeek reported Mirror Group managing director Richard
Webb as saying.
Watford is expected to
completely switch over to the five presses early this year. A sixth ColorMAN,
ordered last year, will go on-edition this summer (see Newspapers & Technology,
September 2007).
Trinity Mirror also produces
papers at sites anchored by presses from Koenig & Bauer AG, WIFAG and Goss
International Corp.
