AVT closes GMI buy
Advanced Vision Technology
Ltd. said it closed its previously announced acquisition of Graphics
Microsystems Inc. last month. Israel-based AVT, which makes automated print
inspection systems, snatched up closed-loop color vendor GMI for $33 million in
cash (see Dateline, August 27, 2007).
AVT’s purchase of Sunnyvale,
Calif.-based GMI will permit it to enter the newspaper and commercial printing
markets and provide the firm with complementary technologies, AVT said.
“GMI’s technology complements
that of AVT, and its strong market presence in the web offset commercial
printing segment opens new markets to AVT’s machine vision technology,” said AVT
Chief Executive Officer Shlomo Amir.
AVT said it will continue to
operate GMI’s worldwide offices.
