Quipp Systems Inc. said it sold a Packman packaging system to The Citizen-Times in Asheville, N.C. Installation will take place later this year, Quipp said.

The sale to the daily marks the 18th Packman Quipp has sold to Gannett Co. Inc. newspapers.

Meantime, Quipp will recondition 35 Quipp Model 35 stackers and 35 Cobra wrappers for The New York Times. The retrofit will include the installation of light curtain safety kits on the stackers.

Finally, Webb Communications, a Williamsport, Pa., commercial printer, ordered a remanufactured inserter, equipped with NewsCom 6 inserter management software. The 8:1 inserter will be installed early next year, Quipp said.
