Muller Martini gets PAGE nod

The PAGE Cooperative is giving preferred supplier status to Muller Martini Mailroom Systems Inc.

Member newspapers will now receive exclusive benefits and discounts when purchasing MMMS equipment, said Stephen Schroeder, PAGE’s assistant general manager and director of technical services.

MMMS said PAGE members already account for a significant percentage of its domestic inserter sales, with 29 percent of all AlphaLiner installations and 17 percent of SLS-series inserters placed at members’ production sites.

In operation since 1984, PAGE has an extensive nationwide membership with members in all 50 states, including more than 563 daily newspapers and more than 930 non-daily publishing facilities.

Meantime, Muller Martini opened a new rebuild center aimed at printers and binderies interested in purchasing pre-owned machines.

The 10,000-square-foot facility in Allentown, Pa., rebuilds and refurbishes used equipment, including saddle stitchers, perfect binders and press delivery machines. They come with a three-month warranty.

Finally, The Daily Times-Call in Longmont, Colo., upgraded its mailroom with a BravoPlus T saddle stitcher from Muller Martini. The device, configured as six hoppers and a cover feeder, is supporting the newspaper’s growing commercial business, which includes everything from magazines to college course books and municipal publications, said Dale Carr, vice president of production.

The system is capable of producing products at speeds of up to 11,000 copies per hour and comes equipped with a three-knife trimmer. It can be expanded at any time to feed up to 14 signatures or 12 signatures with a cover folder feeder.
