Presteligence released NewsXtreme Lite, a scaled back version of its flagship workflow software aimed at smaller publishers. The app offers automated page pairing and imposition up to 16-up, Presteligence said.  The Lite version eliminates the need for page layout in QuarkXPress or Adobe In Design and Presteligence said an unlimited number of users can access the Web-based app to manage production and scheduling of jobs and approve a page, plate or soft proof. NewsXtreme Lite is priced at $12,500.

MultiAd is installing its MultiAd Revolution ad production software at two California newspapers, The Press-Enterprise in Riverside and the Sonoma Index-Tribune.

Esko and Artwork Systems said they’ve completed their merger and will now operate under the name of EskoArtwork.

 

 

Nela said it worked on 28 newspaper web-width reduction projects recently, installing 53 punch-benders and tool-less lockup sets. Among the customers was The New York Times, which cut its page from 13.5 inches to 11 inches last month.

Pantone Inc., which last month was acquired by X-Rite, unveiled Pantone Goe, a color inspiration and specification app. Major industry technology providers including Quark Inc., Xerox Corp., Hewlett-Packard, Adobe Systems, Electronics for Imaging Inc., Flint Group and Heidelberg said they will support the software.

CNI Corp. announced enhancements to its AdDesk app, designed to further automate display advertising sales and production workflows, save time, reduce ad credits and give sales staff more control over customer accounts, the vendor said.

Polkadots Software Inc. released PrePage-it Lite, a lower-cost version of its flagship production workflow application, which the vendor said allows clients to turn their existing Harlequin RIP into a full workflow server for less than $2,000. Files are processed and can be accessed via any Web browser for full resolution viewing and collaborative annotations.

Polkadots launched PrePage-it Lite at GraphExpo for $1,495.
