JRC, Stars and
Stripes, PNG pick Atex
More than 450 users across three
newspaper groups migrating to vendor’s apps.
Journal Register Co. said it
is expanding its use of Atex content management software across 44 newspapers
and 108 users in Connecticut.
The deployment means that more
than 65 JRC newspapers and more than 250 users will have access to the app, Atex
said.
JRC is hosting the app at its
data center in New Haven, Conn.
“Building clustered editorial
and advertising systems is the cornerstone of the Journal Register Co.’s
philosophy,” said Al Mailman, JRC’s senior vice president of technology. “This
approach makes it easier for our newspapers to share content, and it reduces the
duplicated costs and efforts that are commonplace with separate, disparate
systems at individual newspaper sites.”
The content management
software is based on Adobe Systems Inc.’s InDesign and InCopy apps and is
accessed either by an Atex browser-based client or Citrix terminal software.
Meantime, Stars and Stripes
said it would roll out the Atex content management Web app to 132 users
worldwide in a deployment to be completed next March.
The software will be used by
staffers in Washington, D.C., Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Atex said.
Finally, Atex said Pacific
Newspaper Group of British Columbia, Canada, which publishes the Vancouver Sun
and The Province, went live on its advertising software. PNG implemented 75
advertising seats between the two dailies.
