Journal Community Publishing Group Inc. completed the sale of its New England operations, announced in June.

Hersam Acorn Community Publishing LLC acquired the assets of JCPG’s Connecticut and Vermont clusters consisting of 11 community papers, two printing facilities in Trumbull, Conn., and Bennington, Vt., and five shoppers.

 

The Chicago Tribune said it will begin delivering the Chicago Sun-Times and nine affiliated suburban newspapers to subscribers in northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana. Carriers will begin delivering the papers this fall, said Tony Hunter, the Tribune’s senior vice president of circulation and operations.

The Tribune already oversees Chicago-area delivery of a dozen other newspapers.

 

MediaNews Group combined the editorial staffs of most of its northern California papers into one operation in an effort to control costs. News staffers at the San Mateo County Times, Contra Costa Times, Oakland Tribune, Tri-Valley Herald, Valley Times, San Ramon Valley Times, East County Times, West County Times, The (Hayward) Daily Review and The (Fremont) Argus will be part of Bay Area News Group-East Bay, according to California Newspapers Partnership, which owns the newspapers. Some weekly papers are also affected by move.

 

Oswego County Weeklies of Mexico, N.Y., outsourced the printing of its papers The Independent Mirror in Mexico, The Citizen Outlet in Central Square, The Phoenix Register, The Salmon River News in Pulaski, The Oswego Shopper and The Hometown News, which is inserted into the each of the weeklies.
