HAMBURG,
Germany — Ppi Media last month previewed editorial management software it plans
to introduce this fall.
The
Web-based software, dubbed Felix, is built on Adobe Systems Inc.’s InDesign app
and includes planning and control tools as well blogging and community
journalism features, said ppi Media Chief Executive Officer Norbert Ohl.

Media’s user conference.
Ohl said
ppi is introducing the software in order to complete the firm’s roster of
management apps, thus allowing it to offer an integrated package of tools
spanning from prepress to postpress.
“Newspapers are starting to remove system boundaries and the separation of
different types of media are merging into one converged environment,” Ohl said
at a meeting here to preview the software.
To that
end, Felix will enable newspapers to manage how information is presented through
multiple outlets, including print and electronic distribution.
Felix will be introduced at
this fall’s IfraExpo in Vienna and go into beta testing at undisclosed sites
early next year.
