Numerous papers tap Glunz & Jensen K&F for upgrades, web reductions

Glunz & Jensen K&F Inc. announced a number of recent sales:

•The Albuquerque (N.M.) Journal and the Waterbury (Conn.) Republican-American purchased ProVision Alliance punch benders. Complementing the Albuquerque Journal’s purchase was the addition of a standalone DPPC plate punch with pneumatic powered punch heads and Glunz & Jensen’s three-point electrical edge contact system. The Eureka (Calif.) Times Standard, meantime, purchased the PB-38 Power Bender and DPPC.

•The Great Falls (Mont.) Tribune ordered retrofits for its Glunz & Jensen K&F Power Bender (PB-30) and DPPC. The Helena (Mont.) Independent Record ordered a retrofit for its DPPC and purchased the SAB-38 semi-automatic plate bender and DPPC along with the Glunz & Jensen Narrow Gap/No-tool lock up assemblies to support registration on its Goss presses.

•Northeast Industries Inc., purchased more than 150 No-Tool lockups in support of a recent web-width reduction from 50 to 48 inches at The Vindicator in Youngstown, Ohio.

•A retrofit was completed at Ventura (Calif.) County Star on its DPPC along with the installation of the Glunz & Jensen Narrow Gap/No-Tool lock-ups for its TKS presses in support of a web reduction from 48 to 46 inches. Similar press registration retrofits were completed for the Chicago Tribune and Masthead International.

•The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel is on schedule for retrofit of its Provision Alliance high-speed bender to be completed this month. Florida Publishing will receive retrofits for its two VIPBs. This upgrade supplies oiler systems to the punches, providing a cleaner cut and extends the life of the punches and dyes, the vendor said. A new blank plate feeder and UTM were also added.

•The (Boise) Idaho Statesman and Lansing (Mich.) State Journal are both on track to receive upgrades to their ProVision benders and manual plate punch, respectively.

•Finally, The Atlanta Journal and Constitution and Bradenton (Fla.) Herald installed Glunz & Jensen AP-1000 high-capacity, high-speed plate punches, respectively.  The AP-1000 can punch and stack 400 plates per hour and can be ordered for singlewide plates only, or to punch single and doublewide plates in one unit.
