Sun Journal automating prepress, speeding production operations

The Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine, tapped Fusion Systems International to automate its prepress operations in preparation for its upcoming transition from two Agfa filmsetters to its new Kodak Trendsetter News computer-to-plate unit, Fusion said.

The daily installed Fusion’s Workflow ESP software, including the DigiPage ROOM and FTIFF automated imposition apps. DigiPage will integrate with Dynagram’s Automate imposition app and a Harlequin-based Agfa RIP for Windows. The Sun Journal will also leverage other features of the workflow including Dynamic Job Routing for template-based naming, true-page numbering and postpress scripting, Fusion said.

When the transition is complete, the daily stands to shave over an hour in production time, Fusion said.
