Kodak announced sales of its
thermal Trendsetter News platesetters and associated consumables and software to
a number of newspapers. A wrap-up:
Scripps Texas Newspapers in
Corpus Christi, Texas, bought two Trendsetter News 70 platesetters, ThermalNews
Gold plates and Kodak’s Preps imposition and Staccato screening apps as part of
a corporate move to Kodak software and standardized production systems.
Gannett’s Palladium-Item in
Richmond, Ind., purchased a Trendsetter News 150, ThermalNews Gold plates, and
Preps software to print its daily as well as USA Today and other commercial
projects.
“We went with the Kodak CTP
device because it offers a great solution to web growth on our press,” said Ray
McCandless, production director at the Palladium-Item. “It promises to handle
fan out and get much sharper reproduction with photographs.”
Other newspapers implementing
Kodak’s thermal platesetters and associated products include News Publishing Co.
in Fort Wayne, Ind., which purchased two Trendsetter News 100 units and thermal
digital plates; the Post-Bulletin Co. of Rochester, Minn., which bought two
Trendsetter News 70 units, and Kodak’s Staccato screening, Prinergy Evo and
Newsmanager workflow apps to produce a daily, weeklies and real estate guides;
and Sound Publishing Inc. of Everett, Wash., which purchased a Trendsetter News
100, Staccato screening, Prinergy Evo and Preps imposition apps to print a
number of daily and weekly newspapers.
Earlier, The Miami Herald
installed three Trendsetter News 200 units, Kodak ThermalNews Gold digital
plates and Prinergy Evo workflow software (see Newspapers & Technology, March
2007).
