Marandela Artes Graficas in Lisbon went on-edition with a Color Top 9000CDH press, the first 6-by-2 newspaper press TKS commissioned in Europe.

The machine, configured as five towers, five reelstands and two folders, is rated at 90,000 copies per hour. TKS engineered the press with shorter web paths and fewer pasters, resulting in less waste, the firm said. The press also has a twin turbo vacuum system to remove paper dust and lint from the running web.

The press is equipped with a Tohki Electronics water dampening system and a Super Register Device for color registration.

MAG prints about 20 publications, including daily and weekly newspapers.

The 9000CDH press is aimed at the U.S. and European newspaper markets, especially for papers with multiple sections in large page counts. The machine is also geared to customers that want to increase their semi-commercial printing, TKS said.
