Quipp sells stackers to Chicago Trib

Quipp Systems Inc. said it sold 14 stackers to the Chicago Tribune as the daily upgrades its mailroom. The paper will replace its existing Quipp 300 and 350 series stackers with Quipp 500 machines, the vendor said.

Installation will occur by summer. Quipp said it sold 20 additional stackers to a variety of other newspapers, including The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa., and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.

Additionally, Quipp said Chicago Tribune Direct purchased two Packman inserters for its Northlake, Ill., facility. This comes on the heels of an earlier order for four Packman systems CTD placed in November.

Conveyor order

Elsewhere, the Lansing (Mich.) State Journal ordered 200 feet of Twin-Trak belt conveyor to feed production from its USA Today press to its mailroom. Installation will occur in the first quarter of 2007.

Finally, Quipp completed installation of a Quipp-Newstec 10:2 inserter at The Eureka (Calif.) Times-Standard.
