Unisys announced Hermes
Release 11, the latest incarnation of the vendor’s editorial software for
newspapers. Unisys said the latest release is more content-centric than its
previous layout-centric versions in order to help users to better manage both
print and digital workflows and distribution channels.
New features of the software
include Media Desktop as the entry portal for all relevant information sources.
The app replaces the search tools in Hermes 10, including UPS Explorer,
SmartConnection and some aspects of Supervisor for page tracking. The software
also includes Media Planner running inside Media Desktop for editorial resource
and product planning.
The newest version integrates
with Adobe CS2 - without WoodWing Software’s Smart Connection app (used in
Hermes 10) - for editing and layout, and features additional Unisys tools for
productivity. The newest version’s Supervisor tool facilitates advertising
pagination, Unisys said.
