GMA sells 3 inserters; cites ‘06 shipments

GMA Inc. said it received an order for two inserters from Newsday in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The paper purchased two remanufactured 4:1 SLS-1000s and four AF-100 hopper loaders.

Elsewhere, GMA also said it sold 22 hopper loaders to The Tampa (Fla.) Tribune. The paper already has two standard SLS-3000 inserters and two dual delivery SLS-3000 units.

Additionally, GMA said the St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press purchased an 8:2 SLS-2000 inserter to increase the postpress capacity of the paper’s regional printing facility.

It’s the second GMA inserter at the site, which produces the flagship paper as well as other publications owned by the News-Press & Gazette Group.

Earlier, the company upgraded the software overseeing its first GMA inserter, a 12:2 SLS-2000 system.

With the addition of the second inserter, the company will be able to boost productivity for all its publications, GMA said.

All told, GMA said it shipped 22 SLS 3000s, six SLS-1000s, 12 CombiStack bundle systems, three press-to-hopper interfaces, two NewsGrip single gripper conveyors, one PowerWrap and 140 hopper loaders thus far in 2006.
