Newsprint supplier Kruger Inc. said it was accorded top honors by three newspaper publishers for its products in 2005.

Gannett Supply, Knight Ridder Inc. and Dow Jones & Co. each cited Kruger for its quality, the supplier said.

Dow Jones gave the mill its Gold Award for the eighth year in a row, using a rating system that measures optical properties, runnability and service levels.

Knight Ridder, meantime, said Kruger’s Corner Brook Pulp and Paper mill in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, would receive the publisher’s Supplier Excellence award. The mill received the highest overall mark out of 24 mills evaluated by Knight Ridder, Kruger said.

Finally, Gannett Supply awarded Kruger the title of Supplier of the Year. This marks the 16th time in the 25-year history of the award that Kruger has been the recipient. Kruger supplies newsprint to more than 40 different Gannett publications, including USA Today.
