-Independent News and Media implemented its first phase of Papermule Workflow software to manage and automate ad content creation for The Irish Independent, Sunday Independent and The Herald. The publisher also created a dedicated ad production facility in Armagh, Northern Ireland, in a bid to centralize ad production.

-The Republican-American in Waterbury, Conn., completed installation of advertising and accounts receivable software from Miles 33. The install includes classified and ROP booking, classified pagination, and ROP planning, ad tracking, Web order entry, accounts receivable and credit management, Miles 33 said.

The newspaper will also use the apps for production of the four weeklies and shoppers the paper publishes.

-WoodWing Software introduced Smart Hyphen, a feature that delivers enhanced hyphenation functionality to Adobe InDesign and InCopy Creative Suite 2.

-Journal Register Co.’s New Haven (Conn.) Register installed two violet FasTrak 150 computer-to-plate units from alfaQuest Technologies, and two 1,000-plate-capacity TrakMate autoloaders.

 

JRC also tapped alfaQuest for two FasTrak 135 units and two cassette-load TrakMate plate loaders at Imprint Printing in North Haven, Conn., which produces multiple non-daily products for JRC.

-The Herald-Courier in Bristol, Va., rolled out Presteligence’s NewsXtreme production workflow app. The vendor also plans to install the software at The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News and Times Daily in Florence, Ala., later this year.
