ECRM to acquire Esko polyester line
of computer-to-plate products

ECRM said it will acquire the polyester computer-to-plate product line of Esko Production A/S, including assets and intellectual property of its polyester plate business. The deal - for which financial terms were not disclosed - includes the manufacture and sale of DPX 4, DPX System, DPX Lite, WorkMates and all associated software, consumables, spare parts and related products.

“This acquisition of the Esko-Production CTP product line allows us to better serve our customers with an even wider portfolio of products covering additional segments of the printing and publishing markets,” said Rick Black, president and chief executive officer of ECRM.

Black said ECRM will continue to work with the Esko partners. Torben Rysgaard will remain in charge of ECRM’s polyester business.

In 2003, Esko’s Esko-Graphics division exited the newspaper industry - deeming it a “non-core activity” - less than two years after the division was created following the September 2001 merger of Barco Graphics and Purup-Eskofot.
