Gannett Supply installing newsprint app to monitor, track roll inventory, performance

N&T Staff Report

Gannett Supply Corp. said it is deploying Ediwise’s AbiNet paper roll management software at all of its newspaper sites including USA Today.

So far 22 Gannett sites have successfully installed the software, with 68 more to follow, according to Cindy Williamson, GSC’s newsprint manager.

The app will replace a mix of software Gannett formerly used to track newsprint.

“We are not done in the roll out and so far it takes different amounts of time for each installation as we iron out the process,” she said.

AbiNet will be used to view real-time inventory and track paper rolls across all of Gannett’s newspaper sites. It will enable Gannett to monitor lifecycle performance, planning, budgeting, ordering, receiving, consuming, inventory and payment, Williamson said.

It also permits papers to receive electronic shipping notices in EDI or XML formats.

The app will be installed at both Gannett’s corporate offices and production sites.
