In
response to growing demand for Sudoku puzzles by daily news publications,
Anygraaf said it created an easy-to-use Sudoku generator. The Doris Sudoku
Generator automatically creates puzzles and solutions with varying levels of
difficulty for print or Web publication.
“We
recognized that this puzzle is becoming very popular,” said Andrew Hunn,
president of Anygraaf USA Inc. “We wanted to give our customers a tool to help
them increase the value of their products with a way to create these puzzles on
their own and not just for print but for their Web sites as well.”
For
print publication, puzzles and solutions are automatically created based upon
pre-defined variables. The degree of difficulty, size and look of the Sudoku can
be controlled, Anygraaf said. Automatic generation of either JPEG or EPS formats
occurs once the puzzle parameters are chosen. The files can be set for automatic
placement on assigned pages; thereby eliminating the manual work associated with
publishing Sudoku puzzles.
For
the Web, meantime, the Internet Sudoku Generator can publish puzzles directly to
the Internet in an interactive format. The interactive version features flexible
layout and design, easy Web site integration and three different difficulty
levels, Anygraaf said. Users can dynamically generate new Sudoku puzzles
themselves in either of the three difficulty levels. Hints are available via a
button, which adds one number to the puzzle at a time. A demo of the Web Sudoku
is available at www.anygraaf.fi/news/sudokoe.htm.
| An
introduction to Sudoku
Sudoku
is a logic-based number placement puzzle based on a 9-by-9-inch grid
made up of 3-by-3-inch sub-grids. Each row, column and sub-grid must
contain only one instance of each number 1 through 9. Sudoku puzzles
generally have a varying number of digits placed in the puzzle at the
outset. The amount of pre-placed figures has no bearing on the
difficulty of the puzzle; the difficulty is based on the relevance and
positioning of the numbers.
