DGM 440S press springs into Action

Dauphin Graphic Machines sold a DGM 440S shaftless press to Action Printing in Fond du Lac, Wis.

Action, a unit of Gannett Co. Inc., prints community newspapers. Its single-wide 440S press will be configured as three four-high towers and two DGM 1035 folders, according to DGM.

The press will sport remote ink control, CIP3 ink presetting and cutoff, and will also house four splicers, web guides, automatic registration control and automated stackers. The flexible layout will let Action run the press as two individual presslines or combine all the units for products that need full-color printing or larger page counts, DGM said.

“We looked long and hard for the right manufacturer to suit our needs and keep us in the forefront of our industry,” said Action President Bob Carew about the purchase.

DGM is delivering the press this month and anticipates commissioning in January 2005.
