-Knight Ridder/Tribune Information Services launched KRT International, a daily news service offering text and visual content for newspapers and Web sites around the world.  Tribune Media Services International markets KRT content globally.

KRT International offers news, features and visuals from more than 50 newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Dallas Morning News and the Miami Herald. KRT’s contributing news organizations have 27 international bureaus as well as dozens of bureaus across the United States.

-NewsCom unveiled an upgraded and redesigned version of its digital content Web site. The enhanced site offers customers easier navigation and deeper supply of content.  NewsCom is also introducing NewsCom en Espa–ol, a version of the site designed to highlight Spanish-language content and event coverage. Newscom also provides a new online purchase history feature, which gives customers the ability to access a complete download history of their purchases within the same day, same month or past months.  For added security, NewsCom now offers a log-out feature.

-NewspaperDirect announced that k-Kiosk AG, Switzerland’s largest retail kiosk chain, is providing the service at its retail locations. The newspapers are printed at a central k-Kiosk facility and delivered locally on a daily basis.

The Hartford (Conn.) Courant launched a recruitment television program through Digital Media Classifieds.

The newspaper began airing “Hartford Courant Careerbuilder TV” on April 26. Digital Media Classifieds said the first program was sold out with more than 70 advertisers opting for the package in which their ads appear in print, online and on TV. The program lasts half an hour and airs weekday mornings on the WB affiliate in Hartford.

The Hartford Courant brings to 27 the number of newspapers that have partnered with DMC for recruitment TV programs.

Business Wire, in conjunction with public relations firm Delahaye, introduced NewsTrak Compass, a news analysis service that allows corporations to monitor and assess their media coverage. The online service is aimed at helping Business Wire members identify media trends and track the impact of their investor relations and public relations programs.

Business Wire also introduced NewsTrak Clips, which allows Business Wire members to regularly monitor the media. NewsTrak Clips gives clients the ability to retrieve, online, full-text stories and loggings from thousands of print, broadcast and Web-based media.

USA Today Sports Weekly selected NewsStand Inc. to provide digital production and delivery of its publication. Sports Weekly digital subscriptions are available for $19.50 for 26 weeks or $34.95 for 52 weeks through NewsStand Inc.

Sony Corp. plans to introduce a new e-book reader, Librie, based on the electronic paper display technology developed by Royal Philips Electronics and E Ink Corp. Sony’s Librie is similar in size and design to a paperback book. The reader allows users to download published content and can store up to 500 books, the firm said. Philips’ display module is expected to go on sale in Japan late next month.

The Wall Street Journal Online rolled out Audience Search, an online search service aimed at helping advertisers identify their target audiences. Audience Search, developed by Revenue Science Inc., uses natural-language keywords to identify audiences responding to online ads.

The software will also enable WSJ Online to tailor the size of campaigns by growing or shrinking the audience.

Singapore Airlines is the first Journal Online advertiser to sign up for the service.

 

The Seattle Times implemented the eCredit nFusion software suite to automate its credit processes. The Times began installing the software earlier this year and has now deployed the app throughout its credit department.
