Nela notches sales at 5 dailies

Nela notched a number of sales for its VCP vision controlled punch benders.

The Flint (Mich.) Journal connected two basysPrint computer-to-plate units into one Nela VCP. The Nela unit transports plates through the wall into the pressroom and sorts the plates, with a multiposition stacker, by press tower or job/color.

The Daily Southtown in Chicago connected two Nela VCPs to three alfaQuest CTP units. The VCPs are equipped with a 300-plate capacity dummy feeder. Software within the VCP automatically detects and separates a dummy plate from the imaged production plates and punches and bends the plate without operator interruption.

The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., installed one Nela VCP to serve its two Agfa Advantage CTP units. The installation was completed in January.

Santa Barbara (Calif.) News Press linked one VCP for its two Creo Trendsetter News CTP platesetters. The News Press’ plates are transported through the wall into a four-position stacker and separated by color and job.

Finally, the Bucks County Courier Times in Levittown, Pa., linked two Creo Trendsetter News CTP units into a single Nela VCP. A four-position stacker is attached to sort the plates by color or job/ tower.
