The
largest newspaper printer in Denmark, Trykkompagniet, purchased two violet
Polaris XTV computer-to-plate units and the new Arkitex workflow app from Agfa.
The company also signed a four-year agreement to use Agfa’s Lithostar plates
and extended warranty program.
Trykkompagniet
has been using Agfa’s Polaris 100 CTP systems for years. One of those systems
will be upgraded with a violet laser diode.
“Agfa’s
new workflow system, Arkitex, will help make our automation simpler and gives us
advanced production planning techniques,” said Trykkompagniet Managing
Director Jorgen Kloster. “Arkitex and the new Polaris systems will help us
sustain the growth we expect to achieve.”
The
Polaris XTV uses a long-life violet laser. The XTV reaches imaging speeds of up
to 200 plates per hour. The single-wide, high-speed flatbed platesetter uses a
plate trolley and keeps more than 1,000 single or 500 panorama plates on-line.

Norwegian
printer Orkla Trykk, meanwhile, purchased four violet Polaris CTP units and
Arkitex NewsDrive.
Since
1998, Orkla Trykk has been using Agfa’s CTP equipment, including four of
Agfa’s Polaris units.
“The
new violet CTP system from Agfa has proven to be very reliable and plates are
produced at high speed,” said Orkla Trykk’s Svein Saebo. “Combined with
Agfa’s reputation for excellent support and service, Agfa’s complete system
approach will ensure that Orkla Trykk can live up to the increased demand for
newsprint.”
The
installation includes three Polaris XTV systems and one Polaris XEV, all with
Ariktex NewsDrive. They are each linked to three Nela VCP punch and bend units
and will run Agfa’s Lithostar LAP-V plates.
