The Waterbury (Conn.) Republican-American purchased Saxotech’s SaxoPress
application to replace an Openpages content management app that was installed in
1996.
The
82-seat install will integrate with QuarkXPress for page layoput and
QuarkCopyDesk SE for text editing. The app will also be integrated with Managing
Editor Inc.’s Ad Layout software.
“The
Republican-American zones its content heavily, making over the front section and
local pages among four different editions and our Rep-Am.com site,” said
Systems Editor Howard Fielding. “Saxotech worked with us to develop a
content-driven solution that meets our needs, from story idea to finished
product.”
Fielding
said Tansa Text Proofing and the integration of planning, production and
archiving also appealed to the paper.
The
installation is expected to be complete in May.
In
addition to selling its software to the Republican-American, Saxotech will also
install SaxoPress at The Sun in Bremerton, Wash.
The
paper will deploy the app in conjunction with Adobe InDesign.
“A
committee broadly representative of our newsroom examined seven different
front-end systems and unanimously selected (SaxoPress) because of its features,
interface and ease of use,” said Jeff Brody, managing editor of The Sun.
The
Sun is replacing a legacy system from P.Ink. Installation will be complete in
May.
