Gannett Co. Inc. and Morris Multimedia Inc. completed the exchange of Gannett’s daily newspaper in Gainesville, Ga., for two of Morris’ daily publications in Tennessee. Gannett acquired Morris’ Review Appeal in Franklin and the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro as well as three other Murfreesboro-area publications. In exchange, Morris acquired The Times and several other non-daily Gainesville-area publications.

Webpro Inc. is now the exclusive distributor of Techniweb’s automatic blanket cleaning system. The system can be installed on both coldset and heatset presses with web widths between 15 inches and 80 inches.

Techniweb said its technology is unique because it employs a sprayer that deposits the cleaning agent directly on the web before the web travels into the printing tower rather than using brushes or rollers that contact each blanket as do many standard blanket washing technologies. Operators can manage the blanket cleaning system through a touchscreen controller.

The Newseum added more than 500 journalism-related artifacts to the museum’s collection in 2003. Objects include the bomb-shattered automobile that belonged to Don Bolles, reporter for The (Phoenix) Arizona Republic, who covered organized crime. Bolles was killed in 1976 when a bomb exploded in his vehicle.

Other acquisitions include original AP and UPI teletype wire copy associated with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the camera used by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Harry Trask to capture the July 1956 sinking of the luxury liner Andrea Doria just off Nantucket Island, Mass.
