Tucson, Louisville implementing CTP

The Tucson (Ariz.) Newspaper Group purchased two computer-to-plate units from K&F International. The Tucson Citizen, a Gannett newspaper, purchased two XL 180 visible green FD-YAG CTP units for the Tucson Citizen, which will feed to a Glunz & Jensen plate processor. Plates will be registered, punched, bent and stacked with two new K&F ProVision V-Series punch benders. Installation is scheduled for late 2003.

The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky., placed an order in April for three XL 180 CTP units, three ProVision V-Series punch benders, a K&F blank plate feeder, entry conveyors, cross production line conveyors and plate stackers. Louisville’s plates will be sorted by a barcode reader system, which K&F customized for the newspaper. Installation is slated for the first of the year.

Meanwhile, K&F landed the largest press lockup order in its history from the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. The newspaper purchased 652 MDS No-Tool Press Plate Registration lockups for its three Goss Metro presses. Installation began in late August.
