Agfa announces enhanced workflow automation software

Staff Report

Agfa Corp. unveiled Arkitex at IfraExpo 2003, software aimed at automating editorial-to-press workflow.

The software was built upon Agfa’s existing Plateroom Manager and IntelliNet software. Agfa said it has added greater ease of use, systems integration and scalability so a wider variety of newspapers, as well as contract printers, can use the app.

“We took the most successful features of the Agfa and Autologic products - features our customers tell us they prefer, such as Autologic’s page-pairing function and IntelliNet’s planning and reporting features, and we combined them into a single solution,” said Kurt Smits, Agfa’s director of newspaper business.

Because it is built on existing technology, Agfa customers can easily deploy Arkitex into their current workflows, Smits said.

Open application programming interfaces engineered into Arkitex allow users to mesh the app into rival planning and press control systems.
