“Small papers are now getting the attention of advertisers,” said David George, president of Profitpackaging. “We wanted to create a company to design and make equipment suited for newspapers of today.”

Case in point: Profitpackaging’s label, note and tabbing applicator. “This gives small papers the same ability as larger metros to apply notes and labels either online or offline,” George said.

Profitpackaging built a 32,000-square-foot plant to assemble the applicator and related products that include shuttle tables, conveyors and collator pockets and baggers.

George said he’s already sold equipment to a number of newspapers, including the Joplin (Mo.) Globe, the Olathe (Kan.) Daily News and the Daily Nonpareil in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
