Newspaper, commercial printing blur: panelists

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Dick Sutis, president of Goss International Corp., hosted a Web Offset Association-sponsored session focused on the convergence of newspaper and commercial printing. Sutis said pressures to boost press utilization, increase press flexibility and a drive to reduce cost-per-thousand are primary market and technology drivers over the next five years. In addition to Sutis, the vendor panel included Vince Lapinski, senior vice president, web division, MAN Roland Inc.; Tom Reardon, eastern region sales manager, Goss; and Mark Levin, senior vice president, Heidelberg. Users were Art Lorenz, manager, manufacturing support, R. R. Donnelley; Peg Schmitz, Gazette Communications in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and John Dreisbach, vice president, sales and marketing, Evergreen Printing & Publishing Co., Bellmawr, N.J.
