PREPRESS

Enovation Graphic Systems Inc. named four regional vice presidents to oversee sales and marketing. The new executives are Tim Young, John Solwold, Joe Thornhill and Jim Purcell. They will head the West, Central, South and East regions, respectively.

Digital Technology International appointed Levor E. Oldham to the new position of vice chairman. In his role, Oldham will help develop future projects within the company.

Agfa unit Autologic named Sheila Nysko as newspaper segment manager, North America. Nysko recently worked as packaging segment manager for Agfa Graphic Systems.

 

PRESS

Goss International Corp. appointed Michael Ide to the new role of director of aftermarket sales and product development. Goss said the new department is part of a plan to grow its business in the American and global markets.


Margie Harper Kluttz was promoted to executive vice president of Harper Corp. In her new position, she is responsible for all divisions and phases of the business. Kluttz has been with Harper for 32 years where she has served in various management positions, including production, customer service and finance and accounting.





Harper also appointed Todd Lumanưas customer product advocate within its graphic solutions division. Luman’s primary responsibility is project management where he will focus on critical opportunities, advancements in technologies and the utilization of existing components in the flexographic market.


Tech Services International named Pamela H. Older director of consulting solutions and business development. Older will be responsible for expanding TSI’s consulting services into the publishing and advertising industries.

 

INDUSTRY

Dow Jones & Co.’s Ottaway Newspapers Inc. unit named Danforth W. Austin chairman and chief executive officer, succeeding James H. Ottaway Jr., who is retiring. Austin previously served as Ottaway’s vice chairman as well as vice president and general manager of The Wall Street Journal.

Dow Jones also appointed Scott D. Schulman to senior vice president, sales and marketing of The Wall Street Journal. Schulman will be responsible for global advertising, marketing and sales efforts.

 

Kelly Brewer was named editor of the Record Searchlight in Redding, Calif., effective June 1. He succeeds Tom King who announced that he was retiring after serving as editor of the newspaper for seven years. Phill Casaus will succeed Brewer as editor of The Albuquerque (N.M.) Tribune where he has been managing editor.

 

Philadelphia Newspapers Inc. named Bob Burns vice president of production. His responsibilities will include press and packaging operations, commercial printing and the oversight of PNI’s various physical facilities. Burns comes to PNI from The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer where for the past 10 years he was the vice president of operations.

 

night Ridder appointed Alice Wang̣as vice president of corporate development. She will be responsible for mergers and acquisitions activity and treasury functions. Wang was director of the Media and Telecommunications Group for Credit Suisse First Boston Corp. in New York.

 

POSTPRESS

Susan M. Webb was named president and chief executive officer of Jervis B. Webb Co. She succeeds George H. Webb, who will remain as chairman of the board. Brian G. Stewart was appointed to senior vice president of corporate operations and Robert A. Pierson to senior vice president of corporate manufacturing operations.
