Goss opens new training laboratory

Staff Report

Goss International Corp. opened its Electronics Training laboratory at its headquarters in Bolingbrook, Ill.

Goss’ new 2,500-square-foot training facility uses press equipment and press control simulations to conduct maintenance and troubleshooting exercises specific to each of its customers.

“Goss has been training customers in its electronic control systems since the early 1980s and over 1,000 industry personnel have passed through its doors, but we decided to find out from our customers if we could do anything better,” said Peter Farmer, Goss director of training and technical publications. “The investment in the new training facility was made after in-depth research reviewing customer feedback.”

The Training Lab supports all training for Goss’ Headliner, Colorliner, MetroColor, Universal, Uniliner and Newsliner presses, with actual press units and consoles of each model for practical applications.

In addition, it supports training on MPCS3 and APCS2 press control console upgrades and digital page pack enhancements to existing presslines.

Twelve trainers work full time at the laboratory. Goss also provides training on quality improvement, waste control, prepress, press operation, electrical and mechanical maintenance and production management.
