The New York Times and Los Angeles Times
announced an agreement in which the Los Angeles Times will distribute The New
York Times to home-delivery customers in Southern California.
The distribution deal took effect on March 10.
“We are pleased to partner with the Los Angeles
Times to deliver The New York Times to more readers in Southern California,”
said Scott Heekin-Canedy, senior vice president of circulation for The New York
Times. “This arrangement will open up dozens of new areas and hundreds of
thousands of new homes for home-delivery of our newspaper.”
Under the terms of the agreement, The Times will
switch its San Diego County home delivery to the Los Angeles Times. The Times’
larger home-delivery reach in San Diego County will allow The New York Times to
become available in 21 additional ZIP codes for a total of 84 ZIP codes

As of March 24, the Los Angeles Times is
responsible for home delivery of The Times to most of Los Angeles, including
Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
The distribution agreement will allow The New
York Times to expand into another 26 Los Angeles ZIP codes for a total of 89

expand into 11 Ventura County ZIP codes, including Ventura and Oxnard.
The Los Angeles Times has been the home-delivery
provider for The New York Times in Riverside County since July 1999 and in Santa
Barbara since July 2001.
