Argentine national newspaper La Nación purchased
NewsSpeed, PlanSpeed and Speed Librarian software from Digital Technology
International.
The installation includes 83 PageSpeed seats that
will be used for page design and layout and 204 SpeedWriter seats for text
editing.
La Nación’s QuarkXpress system will be
replaced by NewsSpeed, which incorporates Adobe InDesign and InCopy.
SpeedLibrarian will automate the transfer of
information from the production system to the archive.
NewsSpeed will be used to automate many of the
manual processes currently used at La Nación. The newspaper will place more
than 1,400 wire photos, graphics and in-house artwork into the NewsSpeed system.
Photographers will also be able to crop and size photos from their desktop.
Two Compaq servers will be used to host the
editorial and pagination databases. PC clients running Windows 2000 and
Macintosh clients running OSX will serve as user workstations.
La Nación is the first Argentine newspaper to
purchase NewsSpeed from DTI. Other sales within the Western hemisphere include:
Listín Diario of Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, El Heraldo of Tegucigalpa,
Honduras, and La Prensa of San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
