Newspapers will soon be made available in the 297
World Trade Center buildings and associated offices throughout the world, thanks
to technology being installed by PEPC Worldwide.
The first WTC Newspaper Kiosks will be installed
at the World Trade Centers in Barcelona, Spain, and Nice, France.
The kiosks will provide international employees,
guests and visitors of the World Trade Centers with the latest editions of 108
newspapers from 46 countries.
Available newspapers include the International
Herald Tribune, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, El Pais of
Spain, Le Monde and Le Figaro of France, the Times of India and Sports Nippon of
Japan.
“It perfectly fits World Trade Centers’
purpose to have information available to businesses in a timely and coordinated
manner,” said Rob Dorpmans, chief executive officer of PEPC.
PEPC’s kiosks have already been installed in
hotels, airports and convention centers. Users digitally print the latest
edition of newspapers with the use of a touch screen menu, which guides them
through a four-step purchase process. Newspapers can be purchased with a credit
card or with a dedicated Kiosk card.
To feed its newspaper kiosks, PEPC will transfer
newspaper content via its recently announced satellite transmission system.
Content will be pushed 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Users can print the newspaper they want in a
tabloid format, fastened with three staples.
The newspapers feature the same layout and
content — including photographs and advertisements — as the editions readers
are used to receiving at home, according to PEPC.
