Requirements for the newspapers vendor of
choice included the ability to handle individual, full pages for different
editions and decentralized quality control and releasing of pages for different
departments via soft proofing. The newspaper also required that the system allow
normalizing of page naming with control and adjustment of the file name if
necessary, positioning of the bitmap in TIFF data, merging of control elements
and text. Calculation of ink values, automatic or manual control of the
platemaking on a bitmap basis and status control of the platesetter were also
important requirements.
Stader Tageblatt uses the JetNet modules
LaserStar Server bitmap server, TPU News for softproofing and JetNet Integrator
for merging and interfacing.
The newspapers workflow is based on
organizational production and involves the identification of the separations
according to file naming. In addition to the product name, date of production
and the color, the file name also characterizes the individual, full pages for
different editions.
JetNet Integrator normalizes file naming based on
an individually defined structure and only after successfully normalizing the
merging of register marks, clear text information and generating layout files
for the calculation of the ink zone values.
JetNet Integrator transfers bitmaps to TPU News
and LaserStar Server. TPU News calculates bitmap for the softproof so they
appear in the client proof as composite or separation, or as a subsequent print
on a plotter.
In addition to implementing CTP, Stader Tageblatt
is extending its web press for increased color capacity and quality.
Stader Tageblatt has been privately owned for
over 131 years and has a daily circulation of 60,000 with its main titles Stader
Tageblatt, Buxtehuder Tageblatt, Altländer Tageblatt newspaper and its contract
printing of Niederelbe-Zeitung and Bremervörder.
