ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. AlfaQuest
Technologies has signed a resale agreement with Storage Computer located in
Nashua, N.H., to provide a multi-platform Network Attached Storage solution.
The software is designed with scalability and
multi-platform connectivity to handle the high volume of graphic and textual
data produced in a newspaper. The (Little Rock) Arkansas Democrat Gazette
recently purchased a one-plus terabyte CyberNAS 4000-News storage system.

The CyberNAS 4000-News system is set up with an
Internet protocol address on the network using standard hardware and a common
network file system. The system combines a disk storage sub-system with a RAID
array. The RAID backbone provides drive and data redundancy. Users, regardless
of operating file systems, can access and share files on the system. The
CyberNAS 4000-News file system protocols support CIFS (Microsoft Windows), NFS
(Unix/Linux) and AppleShare for Macintosh.

Four standard network interface cards can create
network zones, high-resolution graphic paths and locate data on a sub-net
closest to the users that most access that data. A raster image processor
network zone is created, where only the high-resolution images are moved, thus
freeing the servers and primary network for other traffic. The Web-based
interface provides tools for administering users. Storage maintenance, access,
troubleshooting, sharing and security are controlled from the CyberNAS 4000-News
systems.
The system is able to integrate with all backup,
tape and vaulting solutions. AlfaQuest is currently offering a special price of
approximately $75,000 per terabyte for the CyberNAS 4000-News system.
