Monotype Systems Inc. recently announced that a
plethora of newspapers have implemented its Digital Dot 1270 copydot scanner.
The newspapers are: the Allentown (Pa.) Morning
Call, the Annapolis (Md.) Capital Gazette, Swift Newspapers in Carsen City,
N.J., the Exponent-Telegram in Clarksburg W.V., the Herald-Dispatch in
Huntington, W.V., the Bend (Ore.) Bulletin, the Advertiser in Lafayette, La.,
the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Eagle Web Press in Salem, Ore.
The Digital Dot 1270 copy dot scanner was
designed for newspapers to move from partial to total pagination.
The Digital Dot 1270 scans full-page, doubletruck
advertisements and grid sheets at resolutions of 1,270 dots per inch, as its
name suggests, with precision-ground lenses for low-distortion data capture and
patented roller feed optics mounting for accuracy.
The scanner features Color Snap software that
enables users to align separations without a light table. Users can scan four
color separations, one at a time and reassemble the four scans into one file.
