Politiken Newspapers Ltd. signed a contract for a
CCI NewsDesk 6 system, a move that will place its entire publishing operations
on one common system.
For Politiken Newspapers, having the groups
major publications on a centralized system will provide journalists with a more
efficient communication infrastructure as well as having content sharing inside
and across newsrooms. The central CCI NewsDesk System will also make it possible
for new products to be readily established, which could include anything from a
new editorial desk to merely adding new users to existing products. The
centralized editorial database will also provide the possibility of reusing and
repurposing content to a range of various mediums such as the Internet.

We chose CCI Europe because they provided us with the opportunity to have all
our editorial staff working on one integrated system, said Frank Stjerne,
senior project manager at Politiken Newspapers. The centralized system is
easy to support and maintain, while the sophisticated functionality will provide
greater opportunities to expand our printed product range and in turn offer a
range of exciting new business opportunities.
This is the second time CCI Europe and Politiken
Newspapers Ltd. have worked together. The new editorial system will replace
Politikens CCI NewsDesk Pagination 4 and their current editorial front end.
The previous history between the two companies
has made the implementation phase of the project easy.
CCI Europe has proven to be an astute business
partner in the past. We feel confident that in purchasing a CCI system we have
not only succeed in satisfying our current requirements, we have also formed a
partnership with a market leader that is set to be at the forefront of the
industry hopefully for a long time to come, said Stjerne.
Politiken Newspapers Ltd. hopes to establish a
more stable, cost-efficient platform that provides greater automation, minimizes
downtime and conforms to industry standards across a broad range of applications
with a combined editorial system.
Politiken Newspapers plans to use the system for
both its national daily newspapers, namely Ekstra Bladet and Politiken and its
online counterparts, while the system will have integration into a number of
third-party applications. Politiken is a daily broadsheet newspaper with a
circulation of approximately 147,000, while Ekstra Bladet is a daily tabloid
newspaper with a circulation of 125,000.
