MAN Roland moves web into one division

By Kevin Juhász
Editor

In an effort to better serve its customers in North America, MAN Roland is combining its commercial web and newspaper web areas into one division.

All North American sales, service and project management for web products will now be under MAN Roland’s new web division.

Heading up the new unit is Vincent Lapinski, who was promoted to senior vice president of the web division. He previously served as vice president of sales for MAN Roland.

Also part of the division are Jerry Clark, vice president of commercial web sales; Axel Conrads, vice president of web service and parts; John Evans, director of web project management; and Craig Simon, director of web sales support.

MAN Roland is also decentralizing its North American operations to provide customers in the region with better service. The move includes giving the company’s six locations on the continent more autonomy and more leeway in how they meet customer’s needs.

Flint Ink alliance

Flint Ink and MAN Roland entered into an alliance to develop complementary technologies.

At Print ’01 in Chicago this month, MAN Roland will use Flint Ink on presses running in its booth, and Flint Ink will have demonstrations of the company’s Single Fluid Ink concept on a Roland 200 press.

Pape + Partner and MAN Roland announced that the two companies are intensifying their cooperation to include a partnership in development and sales. PPI and MAN Roland have been working together for two years under the title of PrintNet, which has included integration of MAN Roland’s Pecom presetting with PPI’s workflow for digitized production.

The two companies now hope to expand PrintNet to include networking of printing companies and integration of other vendor systems into the PrintNet workflow.
